The single-fibre media converters allow two independent data channels to be transmitted over a single core of fiber optic cabling. Each converter transmits and receives data bi-directionally using two different wavelengths over one singlemode fibre.

The single fibre converter cards are designed to be housed in either the CN-2000 or the CN-0400 chassis. When the chassis is equipped with the SNMP card all the converters can be managed via SNMP or by a web browser and XML.

Each converter has a traditional multimode duplex fibre port (100BaseFX) and one single fibre port. To create a link one CN-xxxSA must be paired with a CN-xxxSB.
