The CWM series of wave division multiplexers allow either two 10/100Mbps or two 1000Mbps signals to be multiplexed over a single pair of multi mode of single mode fibres.
The CWM series of wave division multiplexers offer the benefits of media conversion paired with WDM technology for increased capacity. The CWM series is an amalgamation of two separate technologies providing active media conversion coupled with WDM techniques across a single fibre for cost savings and ease of connection.
The CWM series allows users to extend the reach of their networks while simultaneously doubling capacity. The CWM range enables two separate data streams to reside on a single fibre segment. Each stream is combined (Wavelength multiplexed) by one CWM device and later, separated (de-multiplexed) by the other. Data streams then flow in parallel, as discrete, virtual channels, to individual ports or separate devices.
When configured with one port as primary, and the other as secondary, a CWM device provides a redundant interface between two switches. Each port has its own dedicated wavelength. A failure at the primary UTP connection causes (via spanning tree) the lost traffic to flow through the secondary UTP port and across the fibre segment.
