The FIB-232/ST is a low cost, compact, fibre line driver designed to extend RS-232 transmissions up to 2Km over multimode fibre optic cabling. As the FIB-232/ST uses fibre technology this makes transmissions secure and immune to EMI / RFI, variations in ground potentials and lightening strikes.
The FIB-232/ST operates at the physical layer of the OSI model and is completely transparent to RS-232 transmissions and protocols. The FIB-232/ST operates off the RS-232 interface power, so requiring no external power adapter. The unit has two ST connectors and operates in full duplex mode for bi-directional transmissions.
