The new Gigabit Multimode Extenders from Lanode are unique in their ability to drive Gigabit Ethernet over 2Km on traditional multimode fibre.

When compaired to standard 1000BaseSX interfaces this is a greatly increased distance.

Network managers can now utilise their long runs of multimode fibre to operate at gigabit speeds rather than being limited to legacy 10/100Mbps Ethernet.

The units are avilable in 2 formats. The GFT-1055E has a single 1000BaseT interface and an extended range multimode port. The GFT-5555E has a single 1000BaseSX interface and an extended range multimode port.

Substantial cost savings can be made with these extenders by utilising otherwise redundant fibre and by eliminating the need to install singlemode optics and expensive 1000BaseLX equipment.
