The SDM-1 is a 6 slot service delivery multiplexer and has the ability to provide analogue voice, ISDN, and a variety of data services to be aggregated all on the same n x 2Mbps trunks.
The SDM-1 uses a 64Kbps digital cross connect (DXC) matrix containing 16 internal 2Mbps highways. Each highway has 31 64Kbps timeslots used to cross connect the various channels on the user cards. The user has full control over each 64Kbps timeslot allowing them to deliver any variety of services wherever the infrastructure exists.
The unit is available as either an enclosed tower or as a 19" rackmount unit.
