The CENCA card is the central control unit and is necessary in all SDM chassis. It provides the following control functions :-
Clock Supply
Electronic cross-connection (DXC function) of the individual transmission channels, configuration of the interface cards, as well as storage of the system configuration in the system internal data base
Control of the communication with the interface cards and the user via the maintenance interfaces
Generation of metering pulses
Monitoring of the entire system and alarm generation
