Tahoe 681/682/684 - G.SHDSL+ Modems with FastEthernet interface

Tahoe 681 and Tahoe 682 modems take advantage of the latest G.shdsl technology providing unprecedented possibilities for copper leased lines. They achieve throughputs of nearly 11.4 Mbps (symmetrical) on the distance of a few kilometres - faster and further than any other modem technology. Developed to combine performance, quality, and scalability, the Tahoe range of next generation DSL modems take advantage of the latest G.SHDSL technology to help address customers’ needs for greater bandwidth while using existing copper infrastructure. The Tahoe 681 uses a single pair of copper cabling achieving data rates up to 5.7Mbps. The Tahoe 682 uses two pairs of copper cabling with speeds of up to 11.4Mbps. The Tahoe 684 uses four pairs of copper cabling achieving speeds up to 22.8Mbps. The modem has a built-in TCP/IP router and an Ethernet 10/100Base-T interface allowing connection directly to a LAN. The Tahoe is manageable using telnet, SNMP, serial console or built-in LCD and keyboard. Traffic statistics are available through the embedded HTTP server while Modem status messages can be sent to a central server using the syslog protocol. Further advanced features include automatic traffic balancing between DSL lines, the ability to configure individual line rates on each transmission line to cater for differences between line pair quality. The modems will also continue to operate should pairs fail, a feature that sets this product apart from its peers.

The Tahoe DSL Access Multiplexer is a perfect solution for large DSL providers requiring concentration of a high number of DSL lines in a small space. Developed to combine performance, quality, and scalability, the Tahoe DSLAM takes advantage of the latest G.SHDSL technology to help operators address customers’ needs for greater bandwidth. The Tahoe DSLAM is a 19” rack-mountable, 3U high unit designed to gather multiple G.SHDSL.bis modems in one space saving system. It can hold up to 8 Tahoe 4681 cards each containing 4 modems, giving a total capacity of 32 G.SHDSL.bis lines. Each line is capable of working either individually or as part of a 1, 2 or 4 pair trunk. The Tahoe DSLAM is equipped with a management card and two hot-swappable, redundant power supplies. The management card provides central control of all devices and has a variety of management interfaces, including a local console and out-of-band Ethernet. For ease of use, the Tahoe DSLAM has a 4-button keyboard, Ethernet port, serial console port and a 4”colour LCD screen making it easy to view all operating parameters of cards within the chassis. The Tahoe DSLAM has the ability to support layer 2 bridged services with full VLAN support as well as Layer 3 routed services with NAT, firewall and access control lists.

Tahoe 4681 - Four-port G.shdsl.bis Modem Card

The Tahoe 4681 is a 4-port G.SHDSL.bis card providing a total capacity of 32 G.SHDSL.bis lines in a single Tahoe DSLAM. Each line may work separately or they may be bundled within the card to support 1, 2 and 4 pair operation. Each modem port achieves a maximum throughput of 5.7 Mbps. The pairs can be bundled using up to 4 pairs giving speeds reaching 22.8 Mbps. With the Tahoe 4681 card it is possible to connect 4 Tahoe 681 modems, 2 Tahoe 682Tahoe 684 modems or 1 on the other end of the pairs. The traffic on these lines may be mixed together in bridge mode or separated using VLANs. As well as standard G.shdsl modulations they support TCPAM-32 coding - much more efficient than the standard TCPAM-16, giving higher throughputs and higher reach.

The SHRM03b-CH chassis is a 4U 19 (23)" rack that supports dual power and 16-slot for 2 wires dual channels, 4 wires single channel hot swappable cards for G.703 E1, T1, V.35 (RS-530/449/X.21) and bridged Ethernet. Utilizing industry standard SNMP protocol, the management feature can configure and monitor each local channel and the connected remote modems. All the SHRM03b TDM chassis power supplies are hot swappable and modular, installing two into a chassis, provides redundancy should a single power supply fail.
