Optical Amplifier Modules
Optical amplifiers are an essential component in metro, regional and long haul optical networks. The Optical Amplifier modules allow optical signals to be transmitted over longer distances without the need for regeneration. It is simple and economical and can amplify multiple wavelengths to distances of several hundred km. The module is an Erbium Doped Fibre Amplifier (EDFA) that is protocol and data rate independent. The module amplifi es optical signals in uni or bi-directional modes and may be ordered as a Booster or a Booster/Pre-amplifier. A third amplifier available is the module which is used for Inline amplification. It extends the distance of DWDM networks and in many cases eliminates the need for costly regeneration.
