SFP Transceiver with extended Temperature Range
We provide a special range of SFP transceivers with extended temperature range especially for insertion into network devices intended for operation in rough environments. The majority of all active network devices are now equipped with modular optical interfaces in the form of SFP ports. For the user this permits the highest possible flexibility in terms of network configuration. Our SFP transceivers enable optical data transmission from 100 MBit/s to 2.7 GBits over single mode or multimode fibre. Depending on the version it is possible to transmit high speed services over a distance of up to 120 km. The concept of the SFP (Small Form Factor Pluggable) is based on the similar principles as GBIC (Gigabit Interface Converter). The main difference is more compact design (half of the width of the mechanical size) archived by using other connectors (LC).
Transceivers meet the Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) specification in the revision 5.4 and are compliant to the Gigabit Ethernet specifications according to IEEE Std. 802.3. The simplex option of transceivers is particularly interesting for Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) applications. By using two different wavelengths transmitting (TX) and receiving canal (RX) can be sent over single simplex fibre. Both wavelengths have to operate on the opposite sides of the connection (version A runs against B). The SFP transceivers are equipped directly with a simplex connector. The temperature range for operation is from -40 to +85 °C. These SFP transceivers generally have an integrated digital diagnostics function and, depending on the version, are designed for Fast Ethernet (100Base-FX) or Gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-SX/LX). Multimode and single mode versions with different optical budget are available.
