Overview

The FRM220-OAB21 is a single channel optical amplifier/booster module that provides multi-function, low noise, Erbium-Doped Fibre Amplifier (EDFA) solutions for metro Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) applications. The FRM220-OAB21 operates at the transmission side of the link. It features high input power, high output power, and medium optical gain and is designed to amplify aggregated optical input power for reach extension. The FRM220-OAB21 provides Automatic Gain Control (AGC) via rack management or RS-232 console interface. Its fast-transient suppression feature allows the output power to be kept at a constant level when there are fast changes in input power.

Management Features

When the FRM220-OAB21 is placed in a stand-alone chassis with serial management port, this device also supports a text-based serial terminal with an easy-to-use menu system for configuration. When placed in a managed chassis, the card is configured and monitored through the chassis NMC (network management controller) via console, Telnet, Web HTTP or SNMP.

Chassis Installation

Due to higher power requirements and greater heat dissipation, this transponder card can only be placed in the CH-02M, CH02-NMC, CH04A, CH08 or the full CH-20 chassis. When used in CH20, a maximum of 10 cards can be installed See below for mounting options).
