Overview
The IFS+803GSM is an Industrial Fast Ethernet Switch (IFS+) for commercial temperature range of -10°C to +60°C. Designed for harsh environments, such as industrial networks, security automation applications, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and is also suitable for many military and utility market applications where environmental conditions exceed commercial product specifications
There are 8 RJ-45 UTP LAN ports that support 10M/100M Ethernet and 3 fiber ports that support 100M/1000M dual rate speed and utilize SFP cages that support any industry standard Fast or Gigabit SFP module. The IFS+803GSM series provides 4KV surge protection for UTP LAN ports and negative DC power supply connection for different deployment demands. The Ethernet switch is fully manageable; supporting most standard Layer 2 Ethernet configurable settings. The IFS+803GSM-E model is identical to IFS+803GSM in every way, except it can support an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +75°C.
Comprehensive Management
The IFS+803GSM may be managed via a web graphical interface or using CLI trrough the RS232 console port.
In addition to all the Layer 2 features, basic Layer3 functionality is also provided (Static routing, filters etc.).
Detailed traffic statistics for all specific switch ports are available. Counters are displayed for the totals for receive and transmit, size counters for receive and transmit, and the error counters for receive and transmit.
Alarm relay operation may be triggered by either power failure or port status.
Energy efficient
Three energy reduction systems ensure that energy consumption is kept to an absolute minimum - ActiPHY™, PerfectReach™ and EEE (Energy-Efficient Ethernet).
ActiPHY™ works by lowering the power for a port when there is no link. The port is power up for short moment in order to determine if an Ethernet cable is inserted. For ports with no cable connection, the PHY remains powered down to save energy.
PerfectReach™ is another power saving mechanism. PerfectReach™ works by determining the cable length and lowering the Ethernet transmit power for ports with short cables.
EEE is a power saving option that reduces the power usage when there is low or no traffic utilization. EEE was developed through the IEEE802.3az task force of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). EEE works by powering down circuits when there is no traffic. When a port gets data to be transmitted all circuits are powered up.
