Overview
IGS-2408SM-24PH is a rackmountable, managed, Industrial Grade, L2 Gigabit PoE (Power over Ethernet) Switch that provides 24x 10/100/1000BaseTX PoE ports, plus 8 dual speed (100/1000Base-X) SFP ports, thus providing up to 32 ports total Ethernet connectivity.
The PoE features enable power and data to be transferred via a single cable, thereby considerably reducing cabling and electrical wiring expenses. IGS-2408SM-24PH is an ideal solution for applications in Smart City, surveillance, Intelligent traffic control systems (ITS) and production automation applications. The IGS-2408SM-24PH is designed for harsh outdoor cabinet applications, with 4kV surge protection, to ensure the uninterrupted reliability of PoE systems. Isolated power inputs also help to increase system reliability and the availability of your network backbone.
Precision Time Protocol
These units support IEEE1588 PTP, which provides a method to precisely synchronize computers over the Local Area Network. PTP can synchronise multiple devices to within 100 nanoseconds on a networks which support IEEE-1588.
Green Ethernet
The IGS-2408SM-24PH supports Green Ethernet and IEEE 802.3az EEE (Energy Efficient Ethernet) management to optimize power consumption. Cable lengths are automatically measured and power is reduced for ports with short cable runs. This is especially useful in datacentres and other areas where short cable runs are prevalent. When a connected device is powered off, the switch port goes into standby mode.
Technical Notes
What is Power over Ethernet ?
Power over Ethernet, commonly abbreviated to PoE, is a technology that enables DC power to be delivered over the same twisted pair copper cabling as the data. This allows end devices such as IP phones, CCTV cameras and wireless access points to receive power across the network and avoids the need to install electrical cabling and a power source at the remote end.
