A flexible 8 Port serial server which allows PC's to access serial devices over IP networks or communicate with Fieldbus/Modbus equipment.

  • 1 x 10/100Mbps Ethernet port
  • 8 x RS232 or RS485 serial ports
  • Modbus RTU/ASCII to Modbus TCP
  • DC9~36V input
  • 6kV lightning protection

Overview

The Mport3108 industrial Ethernet serial port server uses the 32-bit ArmCortex-M7 core CPU(528MHz) with a built-in hardware watchdog. All ports have high level ESD, Surge,EFT protection, and strong anti-interference. It is designed for industrial users to achieve multi-channel serial RS232/485/422 data transmission over Ethernet networks. This product supports 8 RS232/485/422 serial ports.

Flexible and fast connection to Ethernet makes industrial communications smoother, more reliable and faster to meet the needs of customers who are constantly innovating for value-added applications. Standard TCP/UDP Client/Server modes as well as virtualCOM functions the Mport3102 also incorporates ModBus gateway features allowing translation between Modbus RTU/ASCII and Modbus TCP.

Virtual Serial Port

Mport serial servers can be easily used as remote "COM" ports on any Windows or Linux computer. The units operate with industry standard Real Com drivers or with supplied drivers.  An Mport3108 may be paired with 8 remote single port Mport3101s, 4 remote Mport 3102's etc.

Serial extension

An existing RS232 or 485 serial  link may be extended across an IP network using Mports at each physical location.  Each serial port can be independently configured for maximum flexibility.  Point to point or broadcast links are possible.

Serial Broadcast

Broadcasts groups may be configured on a one-to-many or a many-to-many basis.  Simple broadcast groups (one to many) are implemented using TCP client/server mode.  In UDP mode, each port may be configured to broadcast to all other members of the group.

Modbus TCP / RTU integration

Since its inception in 1979 Modbus has become a widely used communication protocol in the field of industrial automation. Originally based on serial interfaces (RS232 and RS485) Modbus RTU enjoys widespread use throughout many different industries. Since then Ethernet has become the network of choice and many industrial devices now have native Ethernet interfaces.

Quick Start Guides

Mport - Quickest way to connect 2 serial devices over Ethernet

The Mport range of serial devices servers have a mode of operation that allows very quick provisioning of 2 units to create a serial tunnel over an Ethernet network.

This 'Pair Connection Mode' is easy to setup.

On one Mport configure its mode of operation to be 'Pair Connection Master'
