Perform non-intrusive monitoring live fibre optic networks using both OTDR and Optical Spectrum Analysis in reat time.

  •  Simultaneous OTDR diagnostics of up to 8 fibres
  •  OSA monitoring of up to 8 fibres
  •  In-service fibre monitoring
  •  Can operate over dark fibre or over third party network
  •  Integrates with other PacketLight solutions
  •  Detection of fibre tapping attempts

Overview

PL-1000D consists of two technologies for non-intrusive monitoring live fibre optic networks. The OTDR locates fibre breaks by sending high powered diagnostic optical pulses into the fibre and creating Rayleigh back reflections. The returning signals are measured and calculated, accurately indicating the location and intensity of the fault. The OSA presents for each fibre the optical spectrum and the OSNR of each wavelength, providing the operator with a full, accurate and detailed picture of the fibre.

Live monitoring

The PL-1000D conducts full non-disruptive monitoring and analysis of the network’s fibre. The OTDR monitors up to 8 fibres simultaneously, identifying a break or degradation in each fibre and where the break is. The embedded OSA provides the full optical DWDM spectrum and OSNR of up to 8 fibres simultaneously. The solution provides high-level visibility of the fibre characterization and operating wavelengths and saves network managers time and OPEX expenses associated with identifying and repairing faults.

Optical Signal to Noise Ratio (OSNR) is the critical measurement in determining the quality of fibre optic  links. The integrated Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) contains a  1:8 optical switch with embedded splitters.  It supports full C-band, and  measures the power, frequency and Optical Signal to Noise Ratio (OSNR) of the optical channels in the fibre.

The PL1000D Optical Time Domain Reflectometer monitors up to 8 fibres simultaneously, instantly identifying any break or degradation in each fibre and where the break is. It integrates a 1:8 optical switch and OTDR.
