Fibre to Fibre Media Converter

The S4110 is a stand-alone fibre to fibre media converter. It is protocol independent and supports data rates from 1Gbps to 11.5Gbps through two open SFP+ slots. This allows network managers to customise the S4110 with a pair of SFP+ modules to meet their network requirements. The open SFP+ ports support a wide variety of Transition Networks 10GE SFP+ fibre modules. This any-rate to same-rate converter can be used to perform reliable and cost-effective single mode to multimode conversion or it can be used to provide wavelength conversion in C/D WDM applications.

The S4110 can be used in telecom and enterprise applications where 10 Gbps links require fibre extension or where 10 Gbps links require an interface between two differnet types of fibre. The S4110 performs a wide variety of protocol transparent service; it supports virtually any protocol from 1 Gbps to 11.5 Gbps:

The S4110 provides up to 10Gig fibre-to-fibre port repeating and performs full 3R (re-amplify, re-shape and re-timing) signal regeneration. The figures below show how x4110 devices can be used in pairs (scenarios A,B,C below) or used as single repeater in a customer network (scenarios D & E below); It can also interconnect with an x4110-1048 (scenario F).
